Mehbooba inaugurates several building complexes at Cluster University, Jammu | KNO

University currently runs 8 integrated honours progs, 4 more being added this year, 2 for the first time in the State

JAMMU, APRIL 28 (KNO) : Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti today inaugurated several building complexes at the Cluster University, Jammu. The Chief Minister, who is also the Chancellor of the University, inaugurated two buildings of School of Sciences, building of School of Social Sciences, School of Teacher Education, School of Humanities and Liberal Arts and School of Engineering.

Mehbooba Mufti, on the occasion, wished the students, scholars and management of the University well on getting new infrastructure. She hoped that with this the academic activities at the University would get a new push. Since its inception the university, besides routine academic activities, is running eight integrated honours courses and four more are being introduced this year. Among these, the two are being offered for the first time by any university in the State.

Earlier, Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu, Prof. Anju Bhasin gave a resume of the activities of the university since its inception. She said the curriculum adopted by the university matches the best in the country like Delhi University, Aligarh Muslim University and Banaras Hindu University. Minister for Education, Syed Altaf Bukhari, who is also the Pro Chancellor of the University; Minister of State for Education, Priya Sethi; Principal Secretary, Higher Education, Dr. Asgar Samoon; Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, Hemant Sharma; Vice Chancellor, Jammu University, Prof. R D Sharma; Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu, Prof. Ashok Aima; academicians, intellectuals; scholars and students were present on the occasion. It may be recalled that the State Government had carved out two Cluster Universities, one each at Srinagar and Jammu, in 2016 to further strengthen the higher education in the State.
